Learn about weather in the West!
Thanks to everyone who attended the New Weather Tools WINGS seminar in October or the Weather Strategies WINGS seminar in November. So you can put your knowledge to use with real-world weather scenarios, AeroDynamic Aviation is hosting a weekend Weather Workshop. Ray Owen is organizing this workshop based on instructor and participant feedback and requests. Thanks to our WINGS participants for providing input!
The Bay Area is known for benign weather (much of the time), but what about flying elsewhere? Join us for a three-hour Weather Workshop on Sunday, December 10, from 2:00–5:00 pm. We review three major cross-country routes through the Pacific Northwest, the Inter-mountain West, and the Desert Southwest. Along the way, we consider several of the weather phenomena that each is known to offer. Would you like to become more familiar with the weather-maker predictive indicators available via prognostic charts and upper air soundings? Would you like to review the visual indicators of mountain wave phenomena and desert microbursts?
We will look at frontal systems, cold pools, mountain wave activity, katabatic winds, monsoons, and dryline-induced convection, from both the forecasting and operational perspectives. To ensure plenty of opportunities for interaction, reviewing forecast products, and considering scenarios, the workshop will be limited to 12 attendees. Gain three hours of weather experience and discussion with fellow pilots for only $90. Sign up with the Aerodynamic front desk at RHV or purchase with PayPal below. See you there!
