Flight Training

Airline Transport Pilot

The highest license a pilot can achieve is the ATP – Airline Transport Pilot. Now required for most airline and corporate jobs, you generally need to have 1500 hours of Pilot In Command time before you can take a checkride. You’ll need to begin with the written knowledge test before you can take the checkride; however, you don’t need an instructor’s endorsement to apply. We can complete the flight training and checkout portions of the ATP, either single-engine or multi-engine land.

Requirements for ATP
  • Must hold at least one of the following:
    • Commercial pilot certificate with Instrument rating;
    • Meet the military experience of FAR §61.73;
    • Foreign ATP with instrument privileges or foreign Commercial license with Instrument rating
  • 23 years old (21 years old for restricted ATP)
  • Able to read, speak, write and understand English
  • Be of good moral character
  • Meet the aeronautical experience requirements of §61.59
  • Pass the Airline Transport Pilot Knowledge Test
    • For multi-engine ATP, you must complete a training course per FAR §61.156 before you can take the knowledge test.

Flight Hour Requirements for ATP

Flight Time per FAR §61.159 Requirements:

  • 1,500 Hours Total Time:
    • 500 Hours Cross Country Time

    • 75 Hours Instrument Time of Actual or Simulated Instrument Time:
      • 50 Hours Must be in an Airplane
